Ed is a director, actor and long time theatre educator. For the professional theatre, his work has been seen on stages in New York, Boston, San Francisco, San Jose, Philadelphia, and across Connecticut; including acting and directing work at the New York International Fringe Festival, Hartford Stage, San Jose Rep, Illustrated Stage San Francisco, California Young People’s Theatre, Theatre Center Philadelphia, and the Hartford Children’s Theatre.
Ed has taught in both university and pre-professional conservatory settings. In the college and conservatory classroom, his challenging courses include actor training– including scene study, acting the classical text, acting for the camera, and musical theatre solo & performance. He also teaches script analysis, dramatic literature, theatre history, screenwriting, and film history. He has worked closely with BFA Theatre and Film students for much of his life.
NEW ZENITH THEATRE. Ed is Founder and Artistic Director of the New Zenith Theatre, and since 1998 he’s led a creative company devoted to young audiences, with exciting interpretations of both contemporary and classical works. NZT has partnered with the Mattatuck Museum, Connecticut Community Foundation, Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum, Naugatuck Valley Community College, Northeast Utilities–and also toured productions across the state, and to Sweden and the UK. NZT has performed multiple times at the New York International Fringe Festival, and produced four New England premieres.
TEACHING. A tenured Associate Professor of Fine Arts/Theatre, Ed has been on the faculty at Central Connecticut State University, Naugatuck Valley Community College, Hanover Theatre Conservatory, Middlesex Community College’s Center for New Media, Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, Apple Valley High School Performing Arts, and Walnut Hill School for the Arts. Ed trained in acting, directing, screenwriting and filmmaking. He’s a graduate of Boston University’s School of Theatre (BFA), Boston University’s College of Communication (MFA/MS), and he attended Marquette University and Villanova University.
